| About the Author | Praising God poetry style HAYWARD, CALIFORNIA - It is already taxing enough to write about the events in one's daily life in a journal. Wouldn't it even be harder to write about one's spiritual communion with the Lord in poetic verses? Author Michelle Louise Pierre did just that in her landmark poetry collection While I Have My Being. Written in an exclusively Christian perspective, Pierre presents us with an exacting account of her intimate relationship with the omnipresence, omnipotent and omniscience God. It is an expression of gratitude, an articulation of praise, and worship to the unseen hand that guides us through and out of the murky waters of this world. Author Michelle Louise Pierre, an African American, has been writing poetry since she was twelve years old. She has in fact completed five other works. A licensed Speech Therapist by profession, she holds degrees and a credential in Speech Pathology and Audiology from San Jose State University. She currently lives in Hayward, California, where she gets to make use of her excellent skills in sewing, crocheting, gardening, wood working, and photography (As you can see by the cover photo, which is a self-portrait). Pierre also enjoys ministering on the side to groups of fellow Christian singles. | |

| Synopsis | While I Have My Being, title taken from Psalm 104, is not the first book of poetry Michelle has written. When she decided to start submitting her books for publication, she felt the Lord wanted her to choose this one, first. She has been writing poetry, since she was twelve years old, and admits that most of those started with, "Roses are red, violets are blue..." This book which was originally entitled, Fire Burning Within My Soul, contains seventy-seven poems. The title was changed one Friday, in November of 1998, after reading Psalm 104, and having verse thirty-three, seemingly jump right out at the author. It was written over the course of two years, beginning in October of 1998, when the first poem entitled, "Switch In The Spirit" was written, to it conclusion, with the signature poem, "While I Have My Being", written on October 28, 2000. It is a compilation of poetic verses, offered up as praise and worship to the Lord, Jesus Christ, as led and inspired by the Holy Spirit. This work offers the reader a chance to experience, firsthand, praise and worship, in verse, tailored exclusively for glory of the Lord, Jesus Christ! Aside from being the perfect reading fare for Christian adults, the psalmist poetry in While I Have My Being is the ideal answer to those in need of guidance and curious about the Lord. Pierre provides readers with the blessed response to our troubles, in lines such as these: "Peace be still, I have come/ to invite you to rest, now, in Me./ Let the shackles fall off, My Son,/ Jesus, paid the price for your liberty./ Rise now, child and acknowledge Him,/ with passionate love, in all your ways./ Don't look for Me, outside of yourself,/ look within, for I am with you always." | |
