| Synopsis | Henderson's books discuss the harmful effects of organized religions and the illogical beliefs of an all-knowing, all-powerful, supernatural being. A critic has written, "Henderson has the bite of Menken and the wit of Mark Twain. What a great combination". Throughout history, man has worshipped many gods and deities. Each of these represented the values and culture of the society. So who will God be in the new millennium? Author John A. Henderson M.D. believes it is time for God.com. This new God does away with many of the constraints and outgrown traits of gods in the past. Henderson asserts that man has become too sophisticated and intelligent and is therefore not as reliant on traditional religion. By examining the role of religion in society, "God.com: A Deity for the New Millennium" evaluates the reasons people believe as they do and how this can fit into modern life. Fascinating, informative, and innovative, God.com looks at religion in a whole new light. | |
| Review by Mehl B Runner | Regardless of one's religious preferences, or lack of them, this is a book to be enjoyed. Authored by John Henderson, a retired air force colonel and practicing physician, every page is filled with useful and highly literate philosophy presented with gentle wisdom. Heavily sprinkled with quotes from three thousand years of observers of our religious thoughts and practices, Henderson offers readers a new approach to our ideas about Gods, life, and living. This book offends no one, yet educates us all with humor and common sense. One must read it, to understand. It was with great pleasure that I did. | |
