Ella I. Curry

Ella I. Curry was born in California and now resides in Florida. She is of Norwegian descent and a first generation American. Learned her cooking skills working for Head Start programs and cooking at the state facility in Florida. So many people have asked for her advice on cooking. So she decided to write a neat little cookbook of all her great recipes.

Probably the most delicious turtle soup comes from the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania. In by gone years, turtle trappers and turtle grapplers caught hundreds of snapping turtles in the Tinicum swamps just South of Philadelphia. In recent years, not so many turtles are caught there. Some states no longer permit the grappling or trapping of Snapping turtles. The native stock has fallen to an all time low. Today, very little turtle soup is made from turtles. However, follow the recipe and you will have a delicious imitation of the elegance of by gone years.

Roast beef is best acquired from a deli or sandwich shop. Have them chip the beef with the slicer.
